Do you like the idea of getting to know other Bethany attenders that live in your neighbourhood? Wouldn’t it be nice knowing there are other individuals, couples or families nearby that you could connect with?
This summer we’re trying something new by helping you host or attend a Neighbourhood Connection Meal. The idea is simple. One person or couple opens their home on a specific date to host either a lunch or supper potluck, and others can sign up to be part of it. As good as the food will be, the real good part happens around the table as we connect with each other. These times can bring together all sorts of people and allow for interactions that you might have never expected or thought of – just like a potluck meal!
Actually, it’s a lot like the Church that way. Jesus has shown us that in His family there is no distinction or barrier that should keep us separated. And, Paul reminds us that no matter what “category” of society we fit in, within the family of Christ we are all one. We may have very different stories, different backgrounds, even different ideas. But, just like a potluck meal, when we come together, we can become part of something amazing!
If you want to know more and/or are interested in hosting a Neighbourhood Connection Meal, please fill out the online form at bethanycc.ca/connectionmealhost or stop by the Next Steps kiosk. Our Group Life staff will be helping facilitate these potluck meals and we want to ensure anyone who wants to host is set up by Sun Jul 7. The meals themselves will be happening from Thu Aug 8 to Sun Aug 11. Online sign-up for the Neighbourhood Connection Meals will begin in mid-July – stay tuned for more info and details.
So, if you like the idea of getting to know some other Bethany people in your neighbourhood, having a meal together and making space for some new connections, I’d invite you to consider hosting a Neighbourhood Connection Meal this summer. It could be the start of something amazing!
Oh, and these aren’t the only connection options happening at Bethany this summer. We have canoe trips, Moms Group gatherings, Young Adult potlucks, Seniors (55+) events, a trip to Merrittville Speedway and more! Sign up for the ebulletin or check out the Events Guide coming out Jun 29/30 to find out more about these great connection opportunities and how to get involved this summer. For more info on any of the above, contact the Group Life staff at 905-937-5300 x217 or email@example.com.
