Did you know that Bethany’s Home Churches are starting up again this month for the 10-week Winter season? This means you have a chance to join, host or even start a Home Church and participate in a growing community of people that are taking their next steps with Jesus, together!
Home Church is where any adult,
• whether you’re just out of high school or you’ve been to your 85th class reunion,
• whether you’re exploring who Jesus is, or you’ve been following Jesus for years,
can come together and experience more of what church is all about. We value care, vulnerability and trust, and we spend time each week reading from scripture, praying together and engaging on the teaching from Bethany’s weekend services. Through Home Church, we help each other to know and obey Jesus more, and participate in His work in changing Niagara.
We currently have dozens of Home Churches that have space for new members to join. If you’ve been thinking about trying out a home church this season, I’d encourage you to check online and see when and where the home churches near you are meeting. This option lets you request to join a Home Church on the spot. So whether you’re in:
• Niagara Falls
• St. Catharines, or
• all the way down in Welland
there’s a Home Church open to you (seriously, we have hosts and leaders eagerly waiting to hear from people in all those areas). We also have a Home Church FAQ page you can take a look at.
We’ve had some great Home Churches launch last season when even 4 or 5 friends decided to start one together. As with any Home Church, our Group Life staff offers support, encouragement and training (we still have plenty of Home Church In A Box to give out, complete with a leader guide and other resources).
If you want to know more about hosting or leading a home church, your first step is to complete this short form, or simply come speak with one of our Group Life staff members at the Welcome Centre after a weekend service.
At Bethany, we believe that we follow Jesus best when we’re part of a community, and that is so much of what Home Church is about; helping us connect with a few other Jesus followers in safe and meaningful ways so that we can be changed by Jesus, and change lives with Jesus.
If you have questions about Home Church, please feel free to speak to any of our Group Life staff (Karen, Peter or me, Jamie) at the Welcome Centre this weekend after any of our three services. You can also contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 905-937-5300.
