Exciting news!! The building permit has been issued for the construction of the pavilion. We give thanks to the Bethany membership for its endorsement and input, and to all of the committee members, architects, city staff and government agencies that have been involved in this process for the past three years in getting us to this point.
We had five contractors submit tenders for the building of the pavilion. Brouwer Construction Ltd. was awarded the contract. We are looking forward to working with them. As you read this report, you may already see them at work. The expected time of completion is May 1, 2015.
We have also awarded contracts to replace the entrance doors on the north side of the church, and for the erection of safety fencing on the retaining wall and around the drainage pond. We are completing the exterior lighting design for the parking lot and will be awarding a contract for that work shortly.
The exterior grading, curbing and paving is mostly complete. Some spring work remains to be done, such as the finish grading to the pavilion, landscaping, adding a second layer of pavement and painting permanent lines on the parking lot.
The Board will also be arranging for a town hall meeting with the Bethany membership to discuss the development of the remainder of the land and will be looking for your input.
