I’m Mark Poitras and I have been a custodian at Bethany Church since March 2003.
My walk with the Lord began in the summer of 1990 and I was baptized in May 1992. The church I was involved with at the time was legalistic, and believed in extra-Biblical revelation as well as being works-for-salvation oriented.
Through the grace of God, I began to understand the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ around 1995. My wife, Laura, and I left legalism behind in 1996, and came to Bethany in 2002. We have found Bethany to be a church with a ministry and doctrine focusing on grace.
I have a wide range of hobbies and interests including cycling, personal study and collecting music and movies. I find the works of Chuck Swindoll and John MacArthur to be edifying. I enjoy films ranging from action to suspense, and have a variety of musical tastes ranging from inspirational to blues to classic rock.
I participate in mid-week Bible studies, where we study and share in God’s Word, pray for each other and hold each other accountable in our walk with the Lord. It is a blessing to be part of a fellowship with a good Biblical foundation.
