WHO WE ARE

  • Bethany’s mission statement remains the same as it describes what our purpose and overall goal is:

    To be a caring community, growing in Christ, loving others and serving in a hurting world.

  • These statements reflect Bethany’s objectives, and will internally guide our decision-making:

  • Bethany’s core values are qualities or traits that represent our highest priorities. These values are the heart of Bethany and what our staff and board stand for:

    Grace – The only condition is that our grace be unconditional.

    Discipleship – We develop disciples instead of religious consumers.

    Vulnerability – To truly be “us”, we need to be real.

  • Christ at the Centre: In the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada (EMCC), we function with unity in diversity. We are a diverse group of Canadian followers of Jesus, who live with grace and appreciation for “unity in essentials, liberty in non-essentials, and love in all things”. Our uniqueness is that we are trying to stay centred on living like Jesus, for Jesus, and in the power of the Spirit of Jesus. We call this The Way of Jesus.

OUR BELIEFS

  • We believe the Holy Scriptures are the divinely inspired Word of God and are authoritative in all manners of Christian faith and practice.

  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who is the Creator and Sustainer of all things.

  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His atoning death on the cross, His bodily resurrection, and His ascension to the right hand of the Father.

  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Saviour of people. People are reborn through genuine repentance and personal faith in Him.

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit to convict, teach, guide, and enable Christians to live a Godly life.

  • We believe that the Church is composed of believers in Jesus Christ. He is the Head and the Source of its life. The Church, Christ’s body, exists to bring glory to Jesus Christ and to accomplish His purpose.

  • We believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ. This is the hope of the Church and its encouragement for ministry. We believe those reborn will live with the Lord forever and those who are not reborn in Christ will not share in His eternal Kingdom.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We acknowledge the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe peoples, many of whom continue to live and work here today. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and is within the land protected by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum agreement. Today this gathering place is home to many First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples and acknowledging reminds us that our great standard of living is directly related to the resources and friendship of Indigenous people.
