membership @ bethany.

HOW DO WE VIEW MEMBERSHIP?

At Bethany, our lens for membership is all about relationship and discipleship, which means it’s about following Jesus together with one another. In short, this means membership is about the following:

Biblical Language - reflecting family and body

Bound Together - belonging to Jesus & one another

Characterized by - participation, giving & serving

Focused on Discipleship - following and obeying Jesus

WHY MEMBERSHIP?

If you’ve been journeying with us for any length of time, you will recognize our language of being disciples of Jesus, of being changed by Jesus and changing the world with Jesus. If this mission and focus excite you then becoming a member will make a lot of sense as well. In short, here’s why we believe membership matters:

Being a Member= growing as a disciple

Being a Disciple = taking part in the mission

Our Mission = changing the world starting in Niagara

WHAT’S EXPECTED OF MEMBERS?

Because our idea of membership is so bound up in relationships and being disciples of Jesus, our expectations for what that looks like follow suit as well. In short, here is what we expect of our members:

THAT WE ARE FOR EACH OTHER

Connected Together
Serve Regularly
Give Generously

THAT WE ARE FOR OTHERS

Praying Regularly
Caring Deeply
Sacrificing Lovingly

WHAT’S THE MEMBERSHIP PROCESS?

We’ve made our process both simple and relational, to match our values. The first step is to register for our next membership “class” which we hold three times a year and is led by our lead pastor, Andrew Mills and our adult discipleship pastor, Jamie Reimer. This class is 90 minutes long and let’s participants hear more about how we value membership at Bethany and what it looks like for us. We also make plenty of time for Q&R.

At the end of this time, anyone who wants to continue with membership can sign up for a connection time with one of our Deacons where we get to know you a little bit more and let you get to know another one of our church leaders. We do this because we believe church membership, like discipleship, is a relational process.

After this, those seeking to become members have their names submitted to our Board of Elders for confirmation and you’re received into membership at Bethany. Each year, we welcome our new members at our annual general meeting.

OUR NEXT MEMBERSHIP CLASS IS HAPPENING ON:

NOVEMBER 10TH @ 11:45AM

We invite you to come be part of our New Members Exploration, where you can learn more about what membership at Bethany is all about and/or to start the process of becoming a member. Our time is facilitated by Jamie Reimer, our pastor of adult discipleship. Since we're meeting right after our second service we'll have light snacks and refreshments available in room 113.

MORE QUESTIONS?

We’d love to hear from you. If you want to know more about membership or have other questions about Bethany, please feel free to email our adult discipleship pastor, Jamie Reimer.
